.....Schoemé here

“I am extremely passionate about and fascinated by children!

I agree with the following once said; adults tend to make the mistake by thinking that we should “go down” to a child’s level, whereas we should rather “step up” into their world of imagination and learning.

I enjoy the enormous privilege to be part of shaping young minds, whether through performance or teaching.”

I am a:

- director

- actor

- writer

- puppeteer

- singer

- clown

- artist facilitator

- teacher

- adjudicator

- voice over artist

During my Drama- and Theater Arts studies, I came to love Theater for Young Audiences.

The honesty and authenticity that lies within an audience of youngsters, can rarely be found elsewhere in theater.

This honesty and authenticity give artists the immense privilege to tap into a magical world of endless possibilities.

Within those possibilities I want to create meaningful work of quality for youngsters and their caregivers.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Jo Belloli
Freelance TYA Programmer &
Early Years Theatre Consultant

Schoeme  is immediately engaging, both as an individual on meeting her, and as a performer. She has that impressive quality of being unassuming, bright, articulate and modest in her personality combined with being equally radiant, smart, witty and charismatic as a performer. It was a real treat to have been presented with that sense of discovery and finding that you and your colleagues experienced in Artists Meet Early Years within the Visioni Festival .

Kindergarten Teacher and Mother

As a kindergarten teacher, we regularly make use of PuppeTrix’s performances. Except for toddlers enjoying it thoroughly, as a teacher, I can see how fantasy unlocks a big part of the learners’ development. PuppeTrix put in effort with music, singing, performance and storytelling. Toddlers are exposed to a world of art and PuppeTrix ensures to instil a love for drama in their hearts. I recommend PuppeTrix to any school, their service is of exceptional quality.

As we watched the performances I noticed one of the young artists sitting quietly waiting for her turn to perform and when it was her turn, she suddenly lit up and took charge of the stage. Now, I’ve seen many performers over the years as I attended festivals all over Europe and when a performer can grab my attention instantly ,I sit up and take notice. That was my introduction to Schoeme . She filled the stage with a big smile, a huge presence, not to mention the biggest skirt I’ve ever seen with puppets popping out of her pockets. She proceeded to delight us with her offbeat humour, her physicality not to mention her highly comic skills. We were all roaring with laughter and totally impressed with her fresh and innocent manner and highly entertaining performance. She is definitely one to watch. I look forward to see what she does next.
